Hi, I'm Kari
I love writing about as much as I love coffee, and (as you can probably tell from the sub-title of this website) I really love coffee. When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a writer and a movie director. Since then, I realized I could do a little bit of both.

Now, I'm a skilled communicator with a passion for using innovative communication strategies and compelling storytelling to connect people to their environment, their community, and themselves.

While I've fallen in love with journalism and social media, my first love is still fiction.

Child of the Sky
Novel written as part of the Duffy Fellowship with Fordham University's Center on Religion & Culture
Fourteen-year-old Tania doesn’t know much. She knows every inch of the palace she grew up in, the five provinces that make up her grandfather's empire, her father’s laugh, her mother’s pestering, and just how uncomfortable royal robes can be. Yet, when her grandfather grows sick and her father prepares for his coronation, a group of disciples begin to call her a name she doesn’t recognize: Satar. After his ascension, her father takes the court on a tour of the country. As she sees the dark mountains of Marron and the crystal ocean of Selu for the first time, Tania learns of the sacrifice that half the country expects her to make. Caught on the knife’s edge of a prophecy, Tania realizes that the little she does know is about to come crashing down around her.

While I'm still waiting on my Oscar, I've fallen in love with telling short-form stories through the camera.
Each of these videos I lead from concept to completion, conducting research, interviewing subjects, filming, and editing them.
I have used Adobe Premier, Adobe Rush, iMovie, Canva, and Vlog Now. I am always eager to learn a new video-editing software!
